Because the range of products offered in the Web is becoming greater, consumers more and more turn to the Internet when it comes down to purchasing a products.

They order a new digital camera, book their upcoming family holiday and even complete authority formalities or use financial services online.  As consumers do so, it has become highly important for suppliers to gain presence and offer attractive conditions. However, additional applications emphasize on better integrating consumers' needs and providing the most suitable offer to them.

Smart Information Systems now covers these additional applications with the "Smart Assistant" solution on various online-platforms. Nevertheless, our long-term objective is the further development of our technological visions, which allow a broader and more comfortable search in the global e-commerce business.

Our research and development department works intensivly on developing these technologies to - on the one hand put the Semantic-Web based e-commerce into practice, and on the other hand work on more intelligent recommender systems and formulations that allow customers to easily and comfortably find what they need. Important formulations for the realization of a Semantic search in the future are: mechanical learning, self-organizing information systems and ontology-based search algorithms.
